Knowledgeable, honest, responsive, and direct, Carla D. Lewis consistently provides exceptional service to her real estate clients. Carla focuses on finding dream homes and investment opportunities for her clients. For the last six years, Carla has been named a “Top Producer” at Intracoastal Realty, recognizing her and her team’s extraordinary work. But it’s not Carla’s First trip to the podium to accept an award for distinguished performance. After only a year and a half as a realtor in the worst market in modern history, her skills, drive, and determination were acknowledged by her peers. Carla won the Sally Noffsinger Award, akin to being named Rookie of the Year, by the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors.
Again in 2017, Carla was identified as a leader in the field, being named one of Intracoastal Realty's Top Producers. Carla and her team closed $51 million worth of transactions, representing 48 sellers and 55 buyers. By effectively working both sides of real estate transactions, Carla gains insight into market trends so she can advise her clients with confidence.
Carla's education and work history give her clients a competitive edge. To achieve the highest potential from each property, Carla guides her clients in their de-cluttering and staging choices. She brings extensive experience in marketing the lifestyles enjoyed in each of her client's unique properties. She knows how to quickly highlight and capitalize on each home's best features. She honed this talent over many years in the fashion and television industry.
After Carla graduated from ECU with a degree in textiles and merchandising, she started her career path in Atlanta as a wholesale merchandiser for high-end boutiques. Two years later, Carla packed her bags for Los Angeles, where she advanced the breadth of her skills as a stylist for national print and catalog advertising campaigns. For the next twelve years, agents, directors and producers sought Carla's talents for their films, TV commercials, and fashion shows. Carla consulted and styled celebrities for events, brought advertising concepts to life, and created and executed set designs for film and national TV commercials.
Above all else, Carla values her relationships. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Miles, for over 25 years. Miles is an accomplished portrait artist, a storyboard artist, and illustrator with an extensive commercial portfolio. Carla and Miles are creative, talented entrepreneurs. Both raised in Charlotte, Carla and Miles left the hustle of the big cities they lived in together - Los Angeles, Dallas, Baltimore-Fells Point, and Washington, DC - to return to North Carolina to raise their family. You could say they were working their way back home. Carla and Miles have two fabulous sons, Roman, a sophomore at NC State who is studying abroad this semester in Ecuador, and Moss, a high school soccer player who's been told he is ACC Division l material, hasn't decided where he will go to college. Both boys have excelled in competitive soccer and are as personable as their parents. The Lewis family has thrived in Wilmington; it was the right place to raise their family and establish careers. Soon, Carla's spirited and beautiful mother, JoAnn, will become a resident of Wilmington as she's just putting the finishing touches on her new Del Webb home.
Carla chose to enter real estate during one of the worst financial downturns in history. Despite the odds, Carla found significant success. Carla credits much of her success to her exceptional team of realtors, her unflappable assistant, Jennifer Harrell, and her three mentors: Jim Wallace, founder and CEO of Intracoastal Realty; Debbie Mitchell, Carla's business partner of almost seven years; and Chris Livengood, Vice President of Sales with Intracoastal Realty.
Chris Livengood served as Carla's first unofficial mentor, showing Carla the path to success in the field. Jim Wallace provided Carla with numerous educational opportunities to further her knowledge of and exposure to the industry. Debbie Mitchell, a seasoned and tremendously successful realtor, invited Carla to form a partnership with her. This partnership allowed Debbie to reduce her work commitments while sharing her knowledge and experience with Carla during real-life transactions. Debbie's experience opened the door for Carla to break into the upper echelon of the market.
For the last five years, Carla has been in charge of the majority of The Mitchell-Lewis Group's day-today operations, marketing, negotiations, and closings. Debbie is less involved but still enjoys working with former clients.
Carla appreciates the guidance and support she received from her mentors and is paying it forward. Now, it is Carla who teaches classes and speaks at seminars for new realtors. She shares her experiences, identifies the pitfalls of the practice, and encourages them to work hard, strive for excellence, and make customer service a priority. Carla emphasizes this last point: ''When emotions run high, bring your clients back to their initial joy of buying their home."
Carla also gives back to the community by supporting numerous charitable organizations. She helps to mount the annual fashion show for The Communities in Schools, a fundraiser that provides funds and services for at-risk youth. She collects hundreds of bottles of wine and donations exceeding $10,000 for the Pretty in Pink Foundation Wall of Wine to assist underinsured North Carolinians struggling with breast cancer. And to cap off the year, Carla and her team deliver poinsettias to a local seniors' home -Carla dons a Santa hat, rents a large van, and takes the residents out for dinner and to view the town's holiday decorations.
Although Carla takes her work obligations seriously and has sophisticated tastes, she's easy-going, witty, and ready to laugh. While working hard to stay a Top Producer, Carla, despite her success, remains humble and grateful to those who believed in her.
